Growing up, I knew soup from the red & white can, Grandma's stew and my all time comfort food (that I always gave the girls when they were sick so now it is major comfort for them as well- Lipton Noodle Soup made with real chicken broth (from the box) served over torn up white bread - preferably Wonder- although Saltine crackers will do in a pinch.
We've come a long way, baby. Now I love soups and make a wide variety of them and try to always keep at least one or two on hand in the freezer. They are also an excellent budget stretching meal- served with bread, rolls, muffins etc they fill you up using any odd bits of randomisity you have floating around in your fridge, freezer & pantry and soups are a perfect way to use up your leftovers before they can turn into science experiments.
